Bellota_Experience

It promotes the conservation of the dehesa and ancestral knowledge through the consumption of Jamón Ibérico de Bellota (Acorn-fed Iberian Ham).

This was Mixtura’s pioneering initiative and supports its financing. It was created to support small producers of Jamón Ibérico de Bellota (Acorn-fed Iberian Ham), the famous Jabugo, during the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, when local consumption based on pilgrimages, festivals, weddings, and other celebrations suddenly came to a halt, MiXtura supported the opening of broader, direct-to-consumer marketing networks. To this end, tastings are organized to explain the product, its traditional process, and its consumption, which become celebrations around this emblematic product of the region and the country. This enables the conservation of the Dehesas (Acorn-fed Iberian Ham), and more specifically of the Sierra Morena UNESCO Reserve and the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche National Park, the birthplace of the Jabugo Designation of Origin.

Through Bellota Experience, through the promotion of Iberian acorn-fed ham produced in a traditional and sustainable manner—with training and cutting courses, promotional events, access to awareness/e-commerce networks, and excursions to the pastures/drying sheds—we support sustainable rural development and the preservation of biocultural diversity in areas at high risk of depopulation. Help us support small traditional producers in the conservation of this ancestral knowledge and in the sustainable management of the pastures and their biodiversity.
